In comparing the similarities and differences of how I view myself and how others view me, I was most surprised that others outside of my workplace perceive my communication style as passive where I view myself as assertive. While I believe that I am confident, non-judgmental, and firm in the way I communicate, I seemingly come off to others as apologetic, hesitant, and indirect. From this evaluation, I have determined that in order to gain the respect that I want from others, I must initiate communication, be more action-oriented, speak with confidence, and make sure that my nonverbal cues line up with what I am trying to convey to others. By being aware of how I am communicating with others, I feel that it will improve my relationships between my employees and myself as well as eliminate unnecessary conflicts arising from miscommunication in my personal life.Welcome!

Week 4 Who Am I as a Communicator?
In comparing the similarities and differences of how I view myself and how others view me, I was most surprised that others outside of my workplace perceive my communication style as passive where I view myself as assertive. While I believe that I am confident, non-judgmental, and firm in the way I communicate, I seemingly come off to others as apologetic, hesitant, and indirect. From this evaluation, I have determined that in order to gain the respect that I want from others, I must initiate communication, be more action-oriented, speak with confidence, and make sure that my nonverbal cues line up with what I am trying to convey to others. What an interesting activity this week's application was! It seems that you've gained some valuable insight into your communication skills via the surveys. Feedback isn't always easy to take, in my experience. However, it is the constructively unpleasant feedback that is most valuable.
