There are many people in which I have strong and positive relationships with. My parents, my sister and my close friends are all people I have relationships with. I have always had a close support network and feel I am truly blessed. I believe that the equal amount of give and take in a relationship is what makes it strong and healthy. Communication and understanding are also important factors in a healthy relationship.
That brings me to my Godson, Skyler. Skyler is a very, very energetic 8-year-old boy. The relationship I have with Skyler is one of the most rewarding relationships I have. There is so much I learn from him each and every day. He is my breath of fresh air, he is my source of inspiration, he is my world. Skyler brings a new perspective on all things in my life; he is able to help me see the lighter side of things. Even though he looks at me as his role model, he has yet to understand the impact he has made on my life. He is truly a blessing.
Another relationship I’ve looked at is the one between my two dogs, and me Southern and Pryde. I have had both of my dogs for over 6 years and they have both been by my side through thick and thin. Both of my dogs have seen me graduate college, move to 3 different states with me, and have seen me through romantic break-ups as well as the death of my two grandmothers. I think often times individuals who do not own pets do not understand the magnitude of the companionship a dog brings to ones life.
I think through my relationships with Skyler and my dogs, I am able to have more compassion, an open mind and a sense of humor as an early childhood professional. I am able to manage my stress through various techniques as well as take certain situations with a grain of salt. I think a challenge with my relationships is helping others to understand and appreciate the spirit of an 8 year old boy and 2 dogs and the joy and love both can bring into ones life. I’m not sure where I’d be with all three of them, life makes perfect sense with them.

Tasha,
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures. Skyler seems like he is your world. Its funny how children can be such a big influence on us, even though they are so small. I didn't think to consider my relationships with the children in my life, but honestly my relationships with them are what keeps me going, taking care of them is my life.
Robin
Your pictures are lovely and you are extremely blessed to have a close support network.
ReplyDeleteTasha,
ReplyDeleteIt is inspiring to hear you talk about Skyler. I think it is so important to have someone in your life who can bring in a new perspective, someone to give you that, "Oh, well, I never thought about it that way" feeling. My husband can be that way for me, and even though sometimes I'd like to swat him for it, he usually makes me think about the other side of the coin. I'm glad that you have that with your godson. Thank you so much for sharing this.
