NAEYC Ideals

Responsibilities to employees
  • I-3C.1—To promote safe and healthy working conditions and policies that foster mutual respect, coopera- tion, collaboration, competence, well-being, confidentiality, and self-esteem in staff members.

Ethical Responsibilities to Children
  • I-1.4—To appreciate the vulnerability of children and their dependence on adults.

Ethical Responsibilities to Families
  • I-2.5—To respect the dignity and preferences of each family and to make an effort to learn about its structure, culture, language, customs, and beliefs.
I feel the above mentioned are all significant to my professional life simply because each ideal  touches on issues that are important to me personally. Employees must feel valued, respected and confident to truly serve young children. Professionals must understand we are the backbone of the children and this must not be taken for granted. I also think professionals have to remember that without the support of families and without families, our missions, values, and goals are almost unreachable.

  4. Tasha- I think that making sure we as professionals learn about the language & culture of families is very important. I think that we should respect the differences of all families and include those differences in our programs daily.

  5. I liked what you said in your post. In all, I believe that all the values you chose are necessary for all early childhood facilities for both the children and the employees.
